Welcome to the Tinnitus & Hyperacusis CD

A special mixture of frequencies called Physiological Noise has been developed for tinnitus and hyperacusis therapy at the ENT Clinic of Tübingen University. Specially adapted to the micromechanics of the inner ear, the sound signal creates a particularly pleasant noise for human ears. It is available on CD and offers a very inexpensive alternative to conventional noise generators (noisers or maskers). More technical details...

You can listen to the physiological noise CD on any CD player using speakers or headphones. It can be used as e.g.

  • A tinnitus noiser
  • A tinnitus masker
  • Background noise for relaxation and as a sleeping aid
  • Training background for people with a cochlea implant
  • A desensitisation training noise for hyperacusis
  • A concentration tool for noisy environments or tinnitus
  • An inexpensive way of trying out whether desensitisation therapy (Tinnitus Retraining Therapy, TRT) might be suitable for your particular case

Development background

Physiological noise was developed by Dr. Marc Scherer in 2001 as part of his doctorate on the micromechanics of the inner ear. Since then, it has been applied successfully in many cases of tinnitus and hyperacusis therapy.
